My Leadership Rubric I Choose Diversity - 1126 Words

For my leadership rubric, I choose diversity. Understanding the diversity of a group is essential to creating a productive organization. Each person contributes a different history, culture, and set of beliefs that shaped them into who they are now. These differences should be celebrated because differences are what help organizations accomplish positive change. The way I approach leading is heavily focused on how I treat my followers. This is why I prioritize understanding how each member is unique. Understanding diversity is an essential concept to consider when working with a group. After reflecting on the diversity rubric this is my evaluation on how I currently perform. In addition, I had Garrett Medellin look at the diversity rubric and make his own evaluation over how I lead through diversity. After consideration, I chose Garrett because he has seen me in both in the mentee and mentor position. In his own leadership positions, he has an insight to how I perform in both aspects. This puts him in the position to make a well-rounded judgment. In brief, the diversity rubric is set up into four different categories; understanding differences, self-understanding, cultural awareness, and interaction with others . First off is understanding difference, I decided that I fall into level four, exploration of otherness. The differences of people are what make the world a richer place to live in.
